Tara + Kody, Waratah Weddings
Tara and Kody’s wedding at Waratah Weddings was exactly the kind of day you’d want for two people who’ve known each other since they were teenagers—chill, fun, and full of laughter. Their story started when they were 14, with Tara being best friends with Kody’s sister, Kathryn. Kody was Tara’s first kiss back then, and it didn’t take long for her to have a major crush on him. Years later, after plenty of “are we or aren’t we” moments, they officially started dating at 18. Fast forward, and here they are, ready to get married and continue a story that’s been in the making since high school.
When it came time for Kody to propose, he kept things as low-key as possible. It was Christmas Eve 2021, and Tara had long given up trying to guess when he’d ask (he’d made it a point to avoid any big events just to keep her guessing!). Tara was mid-bed-making with her hair wrapped in a towel when she heard him calling her name from the toy room. She walked in to find him down on one knee with a ring and their daughter, Isla, in his arms. Her first reaction? “Are you joking?” But when it sunk in that he was serious, she said yes through happy tears. Having Isla there made it feel extra special and something they’ll never forget.

There was no big pressure, no over-the-top moments, just a beautiful, simple ceremony with the people they love most.
While they didn’t get a sunset because of cloudy skies, that didn’t put a damper on the day. Once the ceremony wrapped up, it was time to eat, drink, and hit the dance floor. And when I say everyone was on the dance floor, I mean everyone! From the flower girl to the grandparents, the dance floor was packed, and it felt like nobody wanted to sit down. It was one of those nights where time just flies by, and before they knew it, they were ending the night with sore feet and big smiles.
From a teenage crush to building a life together, Tara and Kody’s wedding felt like the perfect mix of old memories and new beginnings. It was a day with zero stress and all the love, exactly what these two wanted as they start their next chapter together with Isla.
