5 ways to make your wedding stand out

We all know weddings are a big deal. There’s a lot to consider and figure out, naturally! It’s a big event joining two people into a forever bind.

Weddings are special, so make them unique, dammit.

But, how can you create a day that’s unique to you? Honestly, and I know it’s hard to admit, weddings can be a bit dull at times. Don’t be nervous about your own wedding, however, as I have your back! Below, you’ll find some unique wedding ideas that are sure to spice up your wedding day.

Why not create an amazing picnic reception?

If you are looking for a completely different type of wedding experience for you and your guests, think about trying a picnic wedding.

There will be a few different things to consider when doing this: food, entertainment, location, and guest comfort. Food is the easiest. Want a bomb taco truck to serve everyone? Do it. The sky’s the limit when it comes to food, so make it your own. For entertainment, maybe you just have some wedding games set up for all to enjoy.

Overall, a picnic wedding provides a unique wedding idea on a budget, while not sacrificing the reason you’re there in the first place!

Have guests record messages for a creative guestbook alternative

Yes, you can do this! At first, it seems a bit odd to have people record themselves at your wedding. But, what it represents is something more: the actual people and their voices from your wedding.

The whole idea makes sense: instead of a standard guest book full of Polaroids or random messages collecting dust on your shelf, why not have something that can transport you back to the time and place you said, “I do”?

One place that even offers this as a service is At the Beep if you’re looking for a more vintage look and feel.

Enter your reception on horseback

Think about this picture: a bride and groom riding horses like the champs they are through the paddocks and into the reception area.

Yeah, sounds badass.

This is the kind of entrance and unique wedding idea that people will remember you for. Of course, you’ll also have some amazing photos to back up the story.

Give your guests a sweet, whimsy treat with a cotton candy stand

Maybe your wedding needs a little something more than your standard ice cream or chocolate fondue stand. Maybe your vibe is more cotton candy stand, and that’s totally cool.

Cotton candy is for the more whimsical at heart, and I’m personally here for that. You can even get little helpers from any young relatives, or even use your own kids if you have them. It’s a (literal) treat for you and them!

Rather than a book, have your guests sign quilt squares

Maybe you’ve seen something like this before, but it’s such a fun little unique wedding idea! Seriously, imagine all you’re guests coming to your wedding, decorating some quilt squares, and then later on having those quilt squares sewn together as a keepsake wedding quilt to have for years to come.

This is one of my personal favorite wedding ideas as it brings more creativity from those specifically invited to witness you and your spouse tie the knot.

Plus, once everything's said and done you get a beautiful blanket out of it.

A unique wedding idea should still represent you

The one thing to remember about any of these unique wedding ideas is to make sure the wedding still feels like you. If you don’t have any true background in horses, you may not want to (horse)shoehorn them into your wedding day.

Likewise, if you want a big, grand wedding at a traditional venue then having a picnic in the park probably isn’t the best plan.

These little (or big!) wedding touches should feel like an extension of your and your fiancé's personalities, so make sure to keep that in mind whenever adding a little something extra to your special day.
